The ATP Finals is the climax to the tennis season. The prestigious event only features the top eight players in the world and is being held in Italy’s largest indoor sporting stadium in Turin for the first time this year. The players are split into two groups of four and play each other for a place in the semi-final.
Not surprisingly the favourite for the tile this year is World No 1 Novak Djokovic who has won three of the four Grand Slams already in 2021. Amazingly Djokovic has not won the event since 2015 so he will be eager for a change of fortune this year.
Defending champion Daniil Medvedev will be hoping to retain his crown and will be full of confidence after his impressive victory over Djokovic at the US Open in September.
The tournament was fist contested in Tokyo in 1970 and is viewed as one of the most esteemed events in the sport. Given the high profile nature of the competition the players will be battling it out for significant prize money. Should a player win the title without losing a match they collect a reported eye-watering $2,316,000!
