The second Grand Slam of 2022 gets underway this week at Roland Garros in Paris. The French Open is one the most prestigious events in tennis and will host the best players in the sport.

‘King of Clay’ and 13-time champion Rafael Nadal will head into the tournament as one of the favourites for the title. In January he moved ahead of rivals Novak Djokovic & Roger Federer in the all-time rankings when he claimed his 21st major title at the Australian Open. He has been suffering with rib and hip injuries over the past few weeks but will be hopeful he can rule in Paris once again.

Novak Djokovic will also be confident of victory after he won the crown in 2021 beating Nadal in the semi-finals. The Wimbledon Champion has had a mixed start to the season due to injuries and disputes over his Covid-19 vaccination status, which has limited is time on court. However, he secured a record-extending 38th Masters title recently when he won the Italian Open in Rome.

Upcoming star Carlos Alcaraz has been tipped by many to claim his first Grand Slam in Paris. The Spanish teenager has been in formidable form this year and will be aiming to emulate his idol Rafael Nadal by winning on the clay of Roland Garros.
